Enclosures Negative Air Machines
During the mid to late '80s, with the onset of new environmental laws, asbestos abatement became a big industry. With this came the need for new tools and machines to remove the asbestos safely. In conjunction with a new company dedicated to meeting this need, Economy Metal Works helped develop and build a variety of negative air machines. These Negative air machines were basically very large vacuum cleaners used for sucking up asbestos particles, capturing them in a filtering system, and finally discharging clean air back into the environment.
We were fortunate to manufacture these machines for several years, but this market eventually slowed down as soon as most of the asbestos in homes and buildings had been removed. Fortunately the asbestos abatement technology did not die out. This technology was perfect for a new up and coming market, also environmentally related: duct cleaning
When the asbestos abatement supply company eventually dissolved, one of its former employees approached us to help him develop a negative air machine for a duct cleaning supply business he was starting. Given our experience we were delighted. Within months and several prototypes later we had a machine ready for production. That was in 1993, and we can proudly say we are still manufacturing that machine today.
