Custom Electronic Enclosures - Louver General Industrial Louvers Offshore Oil RIG Louvers Project

Louver General Industrial Louvers Offshore Oil RIG Louvers Project

Although EMW has manufactured many louvers in its long history, this particular project stands out as one of the more challenging jobs on our list. The project sounded simple at first. The customer needed 32 louvers for an offshore oil rig they were building. Because they had no drawings, they needed us to measure the openings for the louvers. The job appeared routine and we had no concerns until we saw the openings. The openings were of every shape and size: squares, rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, and even a couple of hexagons. In addition, the specifications called for 10 gauge mild steel. These were not only to be large and awkward, but heavy as well.

The job did look daunting at first, but once we ran the numbers and got a production plan lined out, we felt more comfortable. The fabricating did present some obstacles, but nothing we couldn't overcome. The finished louvers fit beautifully into each of their assigned spaces. This platform now, with its oddly shaped array of louvers, stands proudly in the waters off the coast of Australia.

Heavy Storm Dampers for
Cherokee Data center in Oklahoma

This project is a great example of our diversity. It shows our ability to work with heavier materials such as plate and structural. We built approximately 100 heavy-duty dampers about 7’x 20’. The blades on these dampers were 5/8” thick. The frames were made out heavy rectangular tubing. These dampers were used to ventilate cooling towers inside of large concrete housings. The concrete housings and the massive dampers were used to protect the cooling towers from tornados.
